A football coach who allegedly posed as a doctor and examined patients in a motel room and in his van has been charged with practising medicine without a licence and stealing from his victims. Jesus Valencia Gomez, who pleaded not guilty in Whittier Municipal Court to misdemeanors and crimes including sexual harassment, was released on Friday in lieu of $500,000 bail.

The coach said the assistant coach knew the players had been treated by Gomez, though no one told him he had performed $350 worth of dental treatments on the girlfriend over the years. When sheriff's investigators arrested Gomez this week at his Whittier home, they found an anesthetic used by dentists and rubbing alcohol in his car, Apodaca said. Investigators said Gomez examined the women in the motel room, fondled them and drew blood from their shoulders. He then drove her to a hospital, where a doctor operated on an alleged tumor, according to court documents.
